Job Summary

We are looking for a diligent Health and Safety Officer to ensure the safety and well-being of employees, patients, and visitors within our organization. The Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and promoting a safe working environment. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of safety procedures, experience in health and safety management, and the ability to communicate safety practices effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, safety inspections, and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine the root cause and recommend preventative measures.
  • Provide health and safety training and guidance to employees, including emergency response and first-aid procedures.
  • Ensure all safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, alarms, and personal protective equipment (PPE), is properly maintained and accessible.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.
  • Promote a culture of safety and awareness by organizing safety campaigns, workshops, and drills.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, workers’ compensation requirements, and other applicable health and safety laws.
  • Collaborate with department managers and supervisors to identify safety needs and improve workplace safety practices.
  • Prepare reports on health and safety performance and provide recommendations to senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards, health and safety regulations, and risk management practices.
  • Certification in health and safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA certification) is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to engage and educate employees at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software.
